Name: Jorge Guerra
Born: Houston, Texas
College: University of Texas at Austin
Major: Journalism (College of Communication)

Extended Biography:

Although I was born and raised in Texas, to be exact I was born in Houston, Texas and raised in Sugar Land, Texas all my life. I attended Kempner high school all four years before graduating and being accepted to the University of Texas at Austin. I played sports all throughout high school: four years of basketball, two years of cross country and one year of diving. On top of sports, I had the time to squeeze in extracurricular activities such as: student council (StuCo) and fellowship of Christian athletes (FCA). I graduated top seven percent of my class which was fortunately good enough to get me into UT.

Before leaving my hometown for college, I received a lot of job experience before moving out which ended up being really beneficial in the long run. My first job was a summer job at Arby's which turned out lasting four years and towards the end of my senior year in high school I shifted my work experience from fast food to an actual restaurant at Cheddars. That gig only lasted a summer before moving off to college. Getting work experience was beneficial in many ways, I gained social skills and time management skills which I took with me to college.

At the University of Texas, I am majoring in Journalism in the College of Communication with a focus in sports. I personally don't see myself doing anything else but broadcast journalism in the future. I plan to also major in Spanish. It shouldn't be to hard for me to major in, since being Hispanic is in my blood. So double majoring is in the script. My plans for my future are to graduate in four years and receive a job in the sports industry. Hopefully ESPN. Being on that spotlight and giving out breaking news or throwing out highlights of that days sports action is what I want to do. I will strive for it and work hard for it. One day you will see Jorge Guerra anchoring Sports Center on ESPN.
